Ahh... late October in NYC, I guess that means it's time to pick a season. Thanks mother nature. I loved sweating and freezing in the same day.

Well, I lied in the last post, 'cause here it is nearly 6 months since the last entry. Shall I do a recap of some sort?

The summer was fun. Hot and sticky and bright. spent some time back upstate with the family and friends. Good to see all of them and let them know we're still alive down here. Fall is finally here, which means sweaters and jackets are out and eye candy is not. I'm glad its now cooler, and this officially means I can take out our AC units this weekend. Manual labor!

Our friends Tim and Carrie were here 2 weekends ago, and we all hung out in the city. Good times were had, especially at Dinosaur BBQ that Saturday night. Thank god for ribs. Tim's friend Brian was with us as well. He had the novel idea of flying down here at 6:30 in the morning on Saturday to meet up with us. Dude was a champ, hung with us the entire time and didn't pass out until a rerun of Grey's Anatomy was on later that night. I don't blame him.

This past Saturday saw some funny ass comedians at the Comedians of Comedy show at the Fillmore. Nothing like getting Paton Oswalds' view on George Lucas, Brian Posehns' thoughts on female farting, Eugene Mermans' filling out of his Classmates.com application, and Maria Bamford just going crazy. Hilarious show all around.

That brings us back to the present. Which is now the past. What will happen in the future? Maybe peace, maybe tacos. Since I'm hungry, I vote tacos.

Spider-man 3 might have stolen $11 from me.

Well, since I've been told by a few people that if I have I a Live Journal I should post to it, so I guess I will. I am always a sucker for logic.

Not to much to report on though. Still in NYC and loving it. Spring has fully come and it's seriously nice out. It sucks that in a month it's going to be ridiculously hot and I'll be spending every night in front of my air conditioner like it's a TV with porn on.

Major disappointment in the Sabres Eastern Conference Finals series with Ottawa. Apparently the boys don't realize that winning this series will put them in the Stanley Cup Finals, so they've decided to lose the first 3 games. Well, here's to baseball and golf.

Hit up the NYC Dinosaur BBQ on Saturday night with Brooke and a bunch of friends. Thank god there's one here or I might be thinner. Some serious good eats, but I failed to pick a bottle of their sauce again. I'm blaming either my lack of passion for bbq, or that I have no money.

Brooke and I will be back in the Buffalo/Rochester area for a week in late July. Definitely looking forward to that. Golf, friends, wings, Tahou's, family and traffic. God I don't miss driving.

Alright, that's all I got for now. If you're lucky, I wont wait another 6 months to post. See you on Labor Day.

Well, September is over.

If you want to hang with me, give me a ring. That's if you live in NYC. For all you Buffalo people, you'll have to wait until Thanksgiving. Unless you want to come down here and visit me.
The Future!

Well, here it goes...

In a week and 3 days it will be Brooke and my 3 year anniversary. On that day we are celebrating by going out to Shea Stadium to see the Braves visit the Mets. Should be a fantastic night, -as long as it doesn't rain -and then we will be heading home to sleep. 'Cause we will be tired.

Then, 3 days after that (9/8,) we head off to Buffalo to be in a friends wedding on that Saturday. It will be a raucous night of boozing and celebrating and doing Ron Burgundy/Ricky Bobby impersonations. Then we fly back to NYC on that Sunday evening, get home, and then sleep. 'Cause we will be tired.

Then, one week after the wedding, my parents are most likely coming down to visit Brooke and I, and to take advantage of us living in such a "happening" place. They will be coming in sometime on that Friday evening (9/15,) and then will be departing two days after on Sunday (9/17.) After we see them off to the airport, we will come home and sleep. 'Cause we will be tired.

Then, on that following Tuesday (9/19,) it is Brooke's birthday. Nothing planned for it yet, but if anything does happen it will most likely go down on the weekend before. She'll be 914, yet she doesn't look a day over 25.

The weekend after my parents visit (9/22,) it is Rosh Hashanah, and Brooke will be doing her "Jew" thing. She'll be attending services and maybe making a Rosh Hashanah meal (which, if I remember correctly, is pretty good.) Afterward we will relax for a bit on Sunday (the good old Catholic sabbath,) and then head to The Flaming Lips concert at the Hammerstein Ballroon. Then we will come home tired and deaf to sleep. 'Cause we will...

Then, and maybe finally, the final weekend of September (9/29,) we head back off to Buffalo for another wedding (one that Brooke is in and I am not, thank god.) Once again it will be another night of boozing and celebrating and doing Ron Burgundy/Ricky Bobby impersonations. Then that Sunday, we fly back to NYC and get home to do whatever the hell we want. 'Cause we both have Monday (10/2) off because of Yom Kippur. We can sleep in and hang out and do whatever we want, except for Brooke because she has to fast. Sucks for her. :-P

Then it's October and Hockey season starts. So that's excellent.

Anyways, moral of the story is, if you want to hang out with me, do it within the next week or sometime in October. September is apparently right out.

Well, we are now in NYC. We've been here almost a week and it is pretty nutso, but good.

No internet or cable until the 13th which is bunk, but what the hell can you do. We've been going to an internet cafe a couple blocks from us on Steinway everday day or two to keep up with news and job hunt. My resume is on so many websites, I can't keep track of them. If anyone is in NYC and wants to give me a job, that'd be fantastic.

Anyways, as soon as internet is up an running, there will be postings of pictures of the new place and the area around. It's nice, lots of shops and restaurants and places to clean your clothes. Ahh... clean clothes.

Alrighty, well give me a ring if you're in ever in town or just wanna say hey.

Seeing as though everyone else is doing, and the fact that I easily secumb to peer pressure, here's my music list. Not unlike Josh, mine will be mostly 80s, just cause that's whats mostly on my computer to begin with. But, it shouldn't be too tough for you people, especially those who know me well. Ok, begin. Also, I've got some liner notes at the bottom, read those before giving the answer.

The Rules
1.) On your current play list, hit shuffle and pick the first ten songs on the list.
2.) Write down one or two lines of the song. try to avoid putting the song title in the line.
3.) Have your friends comment and see if they know the songs. (NO CHEATING!)
4.) When someone guesses correctly, list the correct name of the song next to it

1. I wanted to be with you alone, and talk about the weather, but traditions I can trace against the child in your face Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels
2. I would break down at your feet, and beg forgiveness, plead with you, but I know that, it's too late, and now there's nothing I can do The Cure - Boy's Don't Cry
3. Funny how I find myself in love with you, if I could buy my reasoning I'd pay to lose, one half won't do, I've asked myself, how much do you commit yourself? Talk Talk - It's My Life
4. It's a luscious mix of words and tricks, that let us bet when you know we should fold, on rocks i dreamt of where we'd stepped, and the whole mess of roads we're now on. The Shins - Caring Is Creepy
5. Everything about you pains my envying, your soul can't hate anything, everything about you is so easy to love, they're watching you from above
6. You have never been in love, until you've seen the sunlight thrown, over smashed human bones, we are the pretty petty thieves, and you're standing on our street.. Morrissey - First of the Gang to Die
7. Well it's a lonely road that you have chosen, morning comes and you don't want to know me anymore, and it's a long time since your heart was frozen
8. I'm stupidly happy, you won't catch me in, all the birds of the air call your name as they land on my kitchen roof XTC - Stupidly Happy
9. I have stood here before inside the pouring rain, with the world turning circles running 'round my brain, I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign The Police - King of Pain
10. The death of a disco dancer, well, I'd rather not get involved, I never talk to my neighbour, I'd rather not get involved The Smiths - Death of a Disco Dancer

Okay, so that's it. Hopefully it's not too easy. #3 has recently been remade, but I want original artist. Hopefully, #8 isn't too easy for someone, but I had to give one that someone could get.

Is that a little "Treat" in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?

So, it's been 3 months, time for a post.

Although 3 months is a long time in anyone's life, and noting mathematically that it is 1/4 of a calendar year, nothing of major importance has happened. I mean, except for taking a 5 day trip to NYC, which I have just happened to return from.

Begin.

Well, first off, New York rocks. Not only does it have fun places, cool sights, good food, character actors who star in a Broadway musical based on a movie that was made by some British people in the 70's, which they came to fame from having a crazy hit British TV show that had something to do with a "flying circus," no. It has to do with seeing old friends and hanging out with said friends and doing various illegal things. Right.

(Sidebar: I'm not going to recap the entire trip, because that is both tedious and lame. I will hint out some cool points and then let you folk either figure out the rest with your sexy imaginations, or you can just talk to me personally and I'll let you know. Either way, they'll both be sexy.)

Anyways. Brooke and I landed in NYC around 8 on Friday night and then met up with one Dave Waterbury a couple hours later. Stayed with him Friday and Saturday night, and on Sat we ate some kick ass Chinese food in a little place called Chinatown. (I don't know, seems like a cool place, lots of Orientals though.) After that Brooke, myself, Dave and Brooke's really good friend and all around solid person Becky, went to the Empire State Building, where after capitalism at it's best was abound, made it to the top to see the overview of the city. Then got some Pizza at Famous Ray's, or Original Ray's, or Famous Original Ray's, or maybe even Slight Known Possibly Borrowed Stu's Pizza.

Sunday, left Queens, met up with my really good friend and all around Jew Josh and headed over to an outside set of the TV show Everwood. As Josh points out in his journal it is far to easy to make fun of Treat Williams' first name. And, on the other hand, far too stupid. From there we went to his place, hung out, then got some eats at Harry's Burrito and drank crazy Margaritas and called it a night.

Monday was check into hotel/eat bagels/walk out on expensive restaurant/see foppish dancing & singing day. So yeah, Brooke and I got a cool hotel room, then made a reservation at the hotel restaurant, only to find out later that the meal costs 70 bones a person. Not gonna happen. Went to Applebee's instead, and then saw Spamalot. Good show, lots of singing and dancing, good actors, and crazy fan-girls who love Eric Idle way too much.

Then today we came back to Buffalo. I know, sucks. But what can you do, gotta go back to work.

Anyways those were the major points of the trip. If anything sounded weird or strange, that's probably because it was weird and strange. Like I said before, you want a full recap, call me. OK, I'm out.

Narrative

So, we open, with a man.

A man in his early 20's is living in a house with some friends of the same age. He has found himself in a stagnant and dying town with a life that isn't too bad. With love and friendship at his side, the inadequacies of his everyday life tend to blur out like minor smudges on the windshield in front of you. Yet, there are still troubles that lurk in waiting for their timely entrance to our hero's forefront.

This man has found himself working at a local Inn near his place of residence. While the people are nice and the environment is friendly, the wages he earns are mediocre at best. While he seeks his proverbial greener pastures, there lies in the near future a possibility to expand outwards from the dying city and relocate to a place of much grander heights. He wants for this possibility more than anything else, but also wants his immediate future to be a bit brighter.

As the days go by and winter begins to settle in, our man's static and stationary perspective on his life takes a sudden jolt. A member of his immediate family, our man's father, has a minor, yet unexpected cardiac arrest not more than one week ago. This incident hits our hero hard and sends him into deep thoughts of memories and of his own well being in the future. Needless to say his father is recovering well, but this bump in the road leaves an immediate mark on our good man. He looks to begin again.

Chapter 2 is next.

So, it's always fun to end your last hour of work by watching a cop bust a couple of kids for smoking pot, who also happen to be staying at your hotel. I sure found it entertaining and funny. Stupid punks.

Anyways. Here's a full update.

Things are good. I finally get my car back on Tuesday. The $700 worth of repairs are being done on Monday and my car will once again be driveable. A hearty Huzzah for that.

Work is work. I mean, who doesn't say that. But all and all things are going well with the old Holiday Inn. That's right, big ups to Chingy.

Starting to write a bit again. Either in the form of a screenplay of my life as a bellman for a dark comic short, or as a segment for my ever exciting life as mega big hair rocker Ian Black, who is now the electricity that runs ICW.

Alright, it's a bit late and I have to work at 7am. There's no rest for those in the hotel biz. Seriously, there isn't, you should see some of the people I work with.

Recap 101

Ok, here's the deal.

1. Now working at the Holiday Inn on Niagara Falls Blvd. I'm a bellman, I bell. I work with cool people in a cool and laid back environment, and hell, it ain't a bad job for the time being.

2. Things with "Cubes" are progressing along nicely apparently. Firstly, it's now called "The Sixth Floor" and there will be a reading of the pilot to an audience with FOX Exec's watching on the 23rd of this month, very cool. We will see how that turns out.

3. Work on "Lake Effect" has begun. The Webcomic/Animated series has a script written and currently being edited. Need to make it crazy funny for it to get on AdultSwim. Corey, Pete and I are working around the clock on it. and by "around the clock" I mean when we see each other once a week.

4. Still in love with Brooke. Which is good, cause if I wasn't I'd be dead. Love you babe!

Kelly and Erich: House Cops on Patrol

So, like Josh, I too sit in an empty house that was once home to many a fine people. Although, unlike him, I was only here for a little over a year, and my new house will kick much more ass than his. That's right Josh, my house is a rough and ready street cop from the hood, while your house is a tame and weak poser from the suburbs! Hey, that's a possible TV show plot, don't steal it!

Anyways, it's a bit weird being in this house alone, after it's been occupied by atleast 4 people over the last year. The silence is too never-wracking. But not to worry, I shall be moving into a fine house with some ass-kickin' people this weekend and then, the ruckus begins for another year. Oh, have I mentioned the new place has a fire pit in the backyard. Beat that suckas!

Okay, so I'm pretty beat, and I've got more packin' to do tomorrow. So I shall catch you folks on the flipside.

Art... or is it?

So, I've decided to play around a bit more with my digital camera. I've taken a bunch of photos over the last couple of days and I want to know what people think of them. Here are 4 that I think are somewhat cool looking or interesting. Take a look and let me know what you all think, good and bad. :)

Beacon
This is an image of my cell phone sitting on top of my computer tower. I took it specifically with the flash off and no light on, so I could see any natural light around it and to make the red LED clearer.

Cool Off!
This image is of my dresser top with a lot of junk on it. I randomly took the shot without thinking about it, but after I looked at it after loading it on to the computer, I noticed that it was kind of ironic that there is a fan in front of an open window.

Electronic Jungle
This is a picture of a space between my desk and my computer tower. Filled with wires and cords, you can see where I came up with the name, Electronic Jungle.

Empty Friends
This is an image of a lineup of beer bottles that we had stacked up on a window sill at my house. I took a couple pictures of this at several different angles, and this is the best one in my opinion.

Ok, well let me know what you think.

So... yeah.

Well, I'm nearly graduated. In one week from now I will be at dinner with my relatives and Brooke celebrating the beginning of my new life, and the end of my old one. So, I guess that means I have 7 days til I start again. Does that mean that what I do in these next 7 days will not matter, for in one week I will be kicked into the real world like baby who's just been born? I'd like to think so, but I do have a test and a paper due next week, and without those getting done, 7 days from now is meaningless.

All and all things are well. I'm glad to see it's actually getting warmer out for once. Nothing like warm, sun shining kick ass days to make you want to stay in and get your work done. Plus getting Season 1 of Star Trek: The Next Generation on DVD doesn't help. But, it's still a fantastic gift from my fantastic girlfriend. :)

I guess that's it for now. Well, atleast that is all I want to tell the world about myself right now.

"No dungeon master, worth his weight in Geldar, goes anywhere without his, 20 sided die."
